Calculate percentage of a number, what percentage one value is of another, or percentage increase and decrease.
Percentage Formulas:
P% of X = (P/100) x X
A is what % of B = (A/B) x 100
% change = ((New - Old) / |Old|) x 100
Multiply the number by the percentage divided by 100. For example, 20% of 150 = (20/100) x 150 = 30.
Divide the first number by the second and multiply by 100. For example, 30 is what percent of 150? = (30/150) x 100 = 20%.
Percentage increase = ((New Value - Old Value) / Old Value) x 100. A positive result means an increase; negative means a decrease.
Percentage is a ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. A percentage point is the arithmetic difference between two percentages. If something goes from 10% to 15%, that is 5 percentage points but a 50% increase.
If a value after a P% increase is X, the original = X / (1 + P/100). If after a P% decrease, original = X / (1 - P/100).
